Anyone have experience with Sightmark magnifiers?
The price is pretty good. Wondering about the quality. http://www.sightmark.com/products/tactical-magnifiers
3x $119.99
5x $143.99
7x $167.99 |

I am interested in this as well... It would seem to me (I do not have experience with these or any magnifiers at all) that if you have a good red dot sight, which can maintain zero under harsh conditions, than the magnifier would not be "as" important. My thinking is it just needs to add magnification...am I wrong???
Of course I am not going to battle with my rifle, just looking for a way to add a little magnification when I want to... |

If you're considering a 3x, take a look at the Vortex VMX3. When I was buying a magnifier, I pulled one of every magnifier we carry, and compared them over a few days. I liked the Vortex the best, even over higher priced models. The Samson flip to side mount that EOTech uses was impressive, but I couldn't justify the price. The Vortex is available alone: http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-vmx3-magnifier.html or with a swing mount: http://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-optics-vmx3-magnifier-w-swing-mount.html made by American Defense manufacturing for Vortex. ADM makes two heights of the swing mount, but Vortex only bundles the lower of the two. Nice straight absolute co-witness with my EOTech 512. I had to swap out my BUIS from a GG&G to a Magpul, when the magnifier was swinging out of the way, the GG&G would interfere. The higher ADM mount would have prevented this. The VMX3 has adjustments to center a dot in the magnifier. Mark H. |

Does anyone have an opinion on the Sightmark that the OP asked about? I currently have an EOTECH EXPS 2-0 with an EOTECH G23 3x Magnifier. It works really well, but I've never compared it to a less expensive setup. I would like to increase the magnification level I have up to the 5 to 7 range. I don't see anything made by EOTech that will do this, and have found the Sightmark Red Dot and 7X Magnifier combo for $219.00. I know it will not compare to the EOTech, but I'm wondering where the quality is sacrificed. What exactly I'm giving up. I'm using this for general plinking at the range. I'd like to be able to see the 200 yard target easier.
Any and all insight is appreciated. |

I looked through one at a local Dunhams store. The guy at the gun counter mounted a 3x with the same companies RDS sight on a flat top. The optic was clear as I looked through the mounted sight across the street approximately 300 yrds. The mount would take a little getting used to. It wasn't bad but not on par with quailty mounts. Considering the price the magnifier combo wasn't bad. It could present mounting issues with rear buis due to absolute co-witness. Not sure about durability. I did get some looks from one female patron but not sure if it was the CDIF.
