| I don't know what I'm doing wrong and I can't get the dam flash suppresor to stick. And yes I have read the entire 11 page thread. I've been using brake cleaner to clean the threadsand heating the barrel and the suppressor untill it is a blackish red hot. But its like when Iheat everything up the solder is dissapearing. What could I be doing wrong? |

What could I be doing wrong? I would not use brake cleaner! Try Acetone or denatured alcohol. In addition, I'd try a mild acid to clean the treads of both the barrel & muzzle device (to remove any Parkerizing etc.) |
| What are you using to heat it with? Also, some break cleaner leaves a residue. Need to read the labels and pick one that does not leave a residue. Acetone works also. Use a paper towel to wipe off the threads and if it doesn't come off clean you need to clean some more. |

You could be having multiple issues with your process :
- the barrel/threads could be dirty still - residue on them or not cleaned/scuffed up - are you using an acid or flux to prepare the surface - correct tools for the job - too much heat or heat in the wrong place - incorrect solder - flash hider material Soldering, brazing, welding, etc. are really an art form to get right. Like alot of specialty trades - alot of people think they can do it and maybe they can however to do it right .... I would suggest practicing on something else first to make sure everything works together. Too much heat and the results can be undesirable. |
