Don't know if this as been posted before or not, not also sure if it should go on the training forum but i believe it is a good info to have.
It is already use by LEO forces up here. Available in .38, 9mm and 5.56 so far

The only "bug" I have is regarding the conversion kit.

Ouch!

We use sims at least once, sometimes twice a year.

I would only operate sims in a controlled situation with a dedicated range master running the training.

It is valuable training to have and I would recommend it if available.

Joe

PS: The 9mm stings, the rifles suck bad.

Yeah, a few .223 simunitions to the thigh = no workout for a few days

Ask TRG about that. At Gunstock 2. him and GarryOwen had a little battle - with very little in the way of protective gear. Tequila and Band-Aids to the rescue!

The conversion kits are very important to the training environment.  With AR's, they replace the entire upper.  With pistols, they typically replace just the barrel. They are also either a brass color or blue, with brip panels and hanguards available as well for dedicated training guns.  This lets every know they are converted.  The conversion kits will not allow a normal round to be chambered, providing an extra measure of safety.

Example:  The Beretta M9 conversion (the one I use most) replaces the barrel, while using to stock recoil spring and guide.  The conversion barrel has the same outside dimension as an M9 barrel, but the "hole" is much smaller (6.5mm maybe???), and is actually offset from center towards the top.  It is a brass color.  9mm ammunition will not chamber in it.  We typically put blue tape around the grip, as our guns are issue guns, not dedicated for training.

FX marking rounds are a great asset if used properly.  Have your dept. take the time and spend the money on getting the FX approved masks (FX 9000?) and put people through Simunitions' instructor course.  Remember, It's not good training if someone gets hurt.

ETA: FX training sure is a great way to get the heart pumping!  It's also fun too!
