Here is mine, still with a makeshift scope mount. And forward assist, I just can't do all the configurations, LOL.

| OldDirtyAR if you post the copy of the magazine article re the SinglePoint sight I'm inclined to think it was the one from Gun World Oct 1970 issue. Just my opinion but it's doubtful 50+ SinglePoints were purchased from the local hardware or sporting goods store in FL since they had just been introduced to the North American market by ArmaLite for military/law enforcement and Normark for civilian sales. |

Just my opinion but it's doubtful 50+ SinglePoints were purchased from the local hardware or sporting goods store in FL since they had just been introduced to the North American market by ArmaLite for military/law enforcement and Normark for civilian sales. It was stated in a book I read that they ordered one directly from Armalite for testing, and then ordered up the rest, with the mounts too. One of the Son tay guys had read about the sight in a gun magazine, so this could be the article that inspired that, who knows? Bull Simons was a gun enthusiast and a reloader. |
| Stevejness that was my interpretation that the SinglePoints were ordered from ArmaLite. Back then well before the internet ordering anything was done by either mail or phone to the seller along with sending a check or money order. A small local sporting goods store ordering 50 SinglePoints would of certainly attracted attention which was something they didn't want. I'm sure ArmaLite VP Burton Miller handled the sale and was used to working with the US military and US agencies that didn't want the world to know what they were doing. |
