Hey all,

I'm looking to get a single spoint sling that can transition to a two point sling and clip onto another mount.  I'd like to have a single sling that will yield itself to some tactical courses as a single point but transition to a two point for hiking and hunting.  There aren't a lot of places that I can go to check sling options out.  Are there any that I should research or specifically look at?

A magpul MS2 sling seems to be OK, but it needs an adapter plate... magpul sorta set it up so that it works best with their ASAP sling mount plate.

I'm not much for single point slings, but... to each his own.

If you want a MS2...skip straight to the Tacstrap.

Less expensive, more comfortable thicker material, more attachment options.

Blue Force Gear can also set you up with some transition slings, but there stuff might be a little bit more pricey and complicated. It's meant for the individual who needs a modular system with many options.

VTAC padded sling or VCAS or any other sling basicly, I like those 2.
+
2 Snap Hooks
+
snap hook compatible SLAP end plate or Magpul ASAP
+
GG&G snap hook attachment or Front universal wire attachment or GG&G front snap hook att. for FSB

ETA: There are other variation of this to reach the same goal, this is just how I did it and it is solid.

I like the Emdom gunslinger and Urban ERT.

MS2 is a sweet sling. Magpul puts a lot of time and $$ into the development of their products... it definitely shows

We have a 90 day return policy so you can try it and if you don't like it just send it back

I wish companies would do a better job of showing their slings on a rifle AND a person so one could see how they hang, etc. I like the padded VTAC and it appears in the pic that it has, or can have QD swivels.  As the OP made mention to, it would be nice to have a place to try different options.

The MS2 is thin, which puts more pressure on you.  The Tacstrap is basically a copy of this, but the ticker area around the shouder is much better, and the sling is cheaper.  You have more connection options with the tacstrap as well.  On the end that coverts from one to two point the tacstrip has a HK hook and the MS2 has a lock jaw.  Unless you prefer a lock jaw here the tacstrap is a better sling in every other area.  If you using the lock feature on the jaw its really firm, and the HK is much better.  If you are not using the lock feature the Jaw is quicker to move between points than the HK is.

I have a 2-point that has worked out well, and they have a 1-point/2-point that you might like here.  The prices are pretty good.

I have a VTAC and an MS2 and they both have their +/-'s.

MS2 is easier to transition with, but I hate how it hangs, and you can't use it to really stabilize your shot.  I hate how the ring on the ASAP plate klinks and klanks.

VTAC is a bit more cumbersome, harder to transition with, but it hangs better, helps stabilize shots, and is more comfortable.

That being said, I'll probably sell my MS2/ASAP

I started looking at the ASAP plate because I liked the transition ability from strong side to weak side.  But the metal on metal contact made me realize it would, as you stated, "click clack" with every step unless all slack is removed by pushing the rifle out.  I did see another mounting option on tacticallink.com that allows strong/weak transitions smoothly without the click/clack.  It's more expensive, but I'd probably be happier with it in the long run.

Thanks for the input on the VTAC/MS2 and clarification on the HK clip.  That was one of the items I was trying to figure out on the two.

The funshow comes to town next weekend, so I'm hoping I'll get to get a better idea on what works for me.

Merely another reference setup:
VCAS sling with QD at rear, mating to ACS stock QD receptacle.  Front attachment is HK hook mating to Gear Sector rail mount.  Added a D-ring to the sling at the rear to hook the HK hook to for single-point wear.
