| Would anyone have some pictures of various 'tac latches' installed on the charging handle? I'm interested in putting one on, especially the PRI 'Big Latch Military' but can't find any size references for it -- or any of the others. I'd like to keep it as small as practical -- after taking a Defensive Carbine class, I now know the importance of having one (my finger is still raw!) but I don't want some big thing sticking out there catching everything. Thanks! |
| Dude, I don't know about those things. They all seem too oversize and look as though they'd catch on everything. Would it pay to just wear some mechanic's gloves? That's what I wear when I shoot, a habit I picked up from paintball. Shot lots without any blisters! $5 and gloves won't dislodge your bolt. I've looked around and I wonder if there is one that doesn't stick out but has more surface area than he originals, you know, something flat. |
, jeez mr _blackwater_, whats w/ the yelling and green text?and unless you have tried it, try not to speculate of whether it works or not or what it can and cant do in real use ![]() and if you were to invest in $5 gloves, why not invest a little more and get a permentant fix by replacing the std latch w/ a tac latch? ![]() mr bill1953: i'm sorry, i dont have pics to compare the sizes of the differnt latches the tac latches h/w do help a lot--whether for one hand charging or simply to give you a better area to charge w/ on the hand constantly the best 2 i have tried: PRI big latch and the 2nd gen Badger Tac latch--they are low pro enough not to get caught on anything and not to interfere w/ gear and nothing protrudes to latch on anything--these are the 2 i'd recommend for your uses the 1st gen badger latch and the one by SOG are ok, but they have a little higher potential to caught up in webbing and what not; they work, but have a little higher area to snag i wont say to wear gloves or not--thats up to each shooter's choice on if it helps more than it can impead |
ah ok, that is true (its not in caps) but size 4 letter, wow, are you sure you dont need some reading glasses or something? j/k sorry, the green threw me off for a second...but yea, while its not needed by all, switching to an extended tac latch can help some YMMV |
aw crap, now i need the dang glasses![]() they are mostly made of steel (badgers and PRI); the SOG i had i'm pretty sure was aluminum, as is the one by PAC i have heard ideas that some think the steel ones cause increased wear on the AL upper reciverers, but i havent noticed any increased wear on mine....but i like em for the one handed charging and the fact that having optics on mine makes natural stock charging a pITA
