I just watched a video on You Tube where the person had 1 of these on his AR. Has anyone used 1 - Do they really work that well?

Yes and yes. Welcome to 2 years ago. They work well at burning up ammo.

You can make them yourself, and you don't have to be to handy, my father and I made one that works quite well

Not a fan. Ammo gets expensive.
