Well having my 20" AR for a few months now, im starting to want a sling. Its a 20" with flat top and i have a scope attached, it has a fixed FSB, the 20" J&T kit (VERY HAPPY WITH IT). Now should i just go with normal GI sling to attach to the butt and to the front? Or is there a better and more confortable way? I also have harris bipod on it, which blocks my front swivel. I see haris includes one, is that made to attch to the bipod then use for the sling? Having used my friends AR with a sling i noticed that it does not sit on the back the most confortable (flat). I thought i remember seing some other way such as using 550  wraped around the but to achieve a more flat position.

Thanks

So would that be the best way to go? Just a simple sling?

I've been thinking about the same thing. I'm going with a standard sling on my scoped/bi-pod 20" HB.  Maybe a nice competition leather one. 3 point  Specter SOP  slings on my others.

With the bipod where do you attach it? Is it safe to attch to the bipod its self?

The Harris provides for attaching a QD sling swivel to it.  I don't see why that wouldn't be safe, unless you're worried about the strength of the stud's attachment to the rifle.  I'm a little concerned about the one screwed into the aluminum HG on my V-match, but I think the adapter on regular HGs would be fine.

I've never really used a sling on mine with the bipod, but as I recall from trying it out years ago it wasn't all that comfortable as a strap.  I don't think it would work well as a shooting support either because it wouldn't let you get the sling against the back of your hand.  I didn't try "African carry"  (muzzle down on support side) but that would probably work OK.

I have one of the slings that mounts to the qd on my harris bipod.  It looks cool but thats about it.  I works well for muzzle down carry but as a shooting support its not all that great.  just my 2c
