Hello,
Just put together my first AR and bench cleaning kit. I'm all set, ready to shoot and clean.

I have a question regarding Slip 725 and rust. The bottle says its a water based cleaner and every part should be lubed after use of the cleaner to prevent potential rust. I'm assuming if I do a good job wiping the 725 off you certainly shouldn't have to lube everything. I plan on using the 725 on the BCG and chamber.

Do I have to worry about rust if I wipe everything down well and only lube required points?

I'm doing all this for the first time and want to ensure it is the correct way.

Thanks again!

Unprotected metal will rust, period.

Wipe everything down with oil of your choice to leave a protective coat and rust will never be a problem.

Use that cleaner, then apply a good rust preventative.  Wipe off excess, then apply your favorite lube.  Now its cleaned, protected, and lubed.

BTW, the cleaner doesn't make it rust.  The fact that it strips all the oils/protectants out of the metal is what makes it rust.

725 will strip out any CLP, Oil, Dirt, Light Carbon and light fouling.  it will leave bare metal raw and unprotected.  You should always lube after using 725.   It is a cleaner/degreaser...not a CLP.
