| I've owned and shot AR's for several years. I've built and owned sever different brands and price points. I recently bought 2 new guns (who at this time will remain nameless). Ive asked the man. For a bit of help, and will see how this goes. Both are unfired, but one is so loose I could easily stick a credit card in the gap. Yes all have some slop, perfectly normal and expected. This is bad enough that when you shoulder the gun you can hear and feel the clicking and up/down wiggle. It's annoying as hell. Is this just tough shit? Or get it replaced? Again this goes beyond just some slop, |

If the slop is bad enough that you can fit a credit card through the gap - either an unfortunate case of tolerance stack or poor QC.
More than likely it will shoot perfectly fine, however if this is a brand new rifle - call the manufacturer and have them fix it. No reason to start off with your rifle feeling old and beat up. |

Just install an o-ring on the front pivot pin lug. Quick and easy fix for the upper-lower play. http://www.hunt101.com/data/500/IMG_6251.jpg That's badass. I will file that away for later. Great idea. |

I've recently built 2 Anderson lowers and put PSA uppers on them. The fit of sub $500 rifles is miles better. |

Again this goes beyond just some slop, Check the diameter of the pivot and take down pins. I had the same problem with an 80% lower I finished. Both take down and pivot were drilled and reamed to specs. .250". But pins supplied with lower parts kit measured .247". When I assembled the upper and lower they would rock left and right. I took a piece of .250" drill rod and the slop was gone, but there was still a small gap between the upper and lower. I made up a pair from drill rod and they work well. |

an accu-wedge isn't a bad idea either and they're dirt cheap. I'm using one a 14.5 build I did last year and it took out all the slop (very similar to what you're describing). Rifle is still very accurate and hasn't had a single failure.
I also have a brand new anderson lower mated to a BCM upper and it's actually TOO tight and requires a lot of force on the pins to take apart. With this experience, I would actually prefer a little slop versus not being able to take down the upper/lower without using a tool/round because it won't budge using my fingers. |

I've seen plenty of factory complete rifles with a good amount of play between the upper/lower. It's nothing new... They production guns. Can't expect them to be perfectly mated or hand fitted. |

Again this goes beyond just some slop, Several of my ARs are loosey-goosey that way. It's peculiar, but it only rises above my attention span when I'm in the shop, with nothing important to do; when I'm on the range, I never notice it - not enough processing power to deal with all the other things going on *AND* that, I guess..... |
