I have a Stag upper with a 16" barrel, carbine configuration.  The handguards feel fat in my hands.  I am just wondering if there are handguards out there with a smaller diameter.  It looks like the limiting factor is the gas tube running under them, maybe an 1/8" or so.  So I wonder if I would even notice the 1/4" difference.  But I just saw an article in a mag. comparing a S&W ar15 to the authors 10 year old Rock River.  It looked like the Rock River had smaller handguards.  Anyway, if they exist I know you guys know where.

Thanks,

Loy

Bushmaster sells smaller diameter handgaurds.  If you don't go to Bushy just look for CAR handgaurds as opposed to the fat M4 ones

i just got a set from Bravo Company USA.  they are the smaller CAR style like you were asking about.  IIRC they are about $18.00.  extremely good company to deal with.  there are good ones and ones of lesser quality out there all for about price.

i know Bravo Co are the good ones.  they have two extra bumps where they slid into the front HG ring.  you file down the dimples for a solid snug fit. the few bushies i have handled i didn't like the fit of the HGs (may or may not have been represenative).  there are both pins/holes and slots/grooves that keep the two halves aligned together.  the cheapies i have handled only had the slots/ grooves....they were missing the pins/holes.
