I know somebody has to make them...The front sight post on my Bushy seem's like it's big as a tree tunk when your sighting with the iron's. Who has the best selection? Thank's. |

Just found these guys this AM: b. jones AR sight options These nicely priced parts may solve some problems with some AR shooters. Click the Ar link and scroll down. Looks like some good stuff. Save some for me, I have one rifle that needs this stuff! |
It's not so much the range as the amount of time spent focusing on the front sight. The smaller the front sight, the harder it is to keep in focus over a 3-4 hour match. Taking frequent 'eye breaks' can help, but with the 0.050 post my eyes are almost exhausted by the end of the slow prone stage. I'm thinking about switching to a larger post and/or a rear lens. |
| I legged out and earned a Presidents 100 tab with a .072 .....The skinny posts make it easy to hold windage but unless you have 18 year old eyes, they are a bitch to maintain elevation. Something else to consider with the tiny posts is they will snag on most anything, including the lining of soft cases, and bend. |
The general course of fire is standing at 200 yds, slow-fire, Sitting and prone at 300 yds rapid fire, and lastly Prone slow-fire at 600 yds. Yes, precision shooting with irons is possible even with large front-sight posts. I have shot decent groups with a front-sight blade as wide as 0.125, but something on the order of 0.060 is a bit better. When a blade (or post) is too small, it is harder to see and to focus on. The eye naturally finds the center of objects quite well. If you are using a center hold, the front sight does cover-up part of the target, but if you use a 6 o'clock hold then the width of the blade does not matter as much. Dave. |
| No matches for me, I'm Just looking to Knock the eye out of a Coyote or shoot nice little groups of hole's on paper...Dont want to put a scope on the rifle as I have an Aimpoint on it already but the .072 post just seems to wide...Hell! It cover's the target up at 50 and at 100 So I thought a smaller post might do the trick...I may have gone to small...What the hell...I'm use to hearing that!!! |
