| Has anyone had any experiences with these on their 14.5'' barrels? Just wondering if it's worth the money. Does it reduce muzzle rise at all? |

They are designed to reduce flash not muzzle rise they are not brakes or comps. They work well for reducing the flash it and the AAC blackout are the best at doing this job. They make great muzzle device for night hunting where preserving night vision is crucial. I use them on most my rifle since comps usually make the rifle louder and recoil has never been an issue for me. |

Quoted: I've transitioned completely to the AAC blackout on rifles that don't get a suppressor and it's a better device than the Vortex. I'd be curious as to why you feel the Blackout is better than the Vortex. Please understand that I'm not disagreeing with you because I have no experience with the Blackout. I would just like to get your opinion. |

They are actually very similar with a slight edge to the Blackout having a slight less signature of flash over the Vortex. I have seen both shoot and have used both night and day on 12, 14.5, 16, 18, and 20in rifles the difference was not noticeable when I was shooter. But when you can slow it down with high speed camera the Blackout does every so slightly beat the Vortex on flash suppression.
I run Vortex because I do not have a suppressor and the Vortex is cheaper. If I had a AAC suppressor I would have the QD version of the Blackout 51T. |

It's also a little bit lighter and shorter, and a buddy of mine had a room mate that worked at AAC so it miracled itself into my possession. |

I guess when a couple of my Noveskes came with Vortex, I got used to them and bought a few more.
Then bought a couple AAC Blackouts, I use them both and don't really notice the difference in ringing, nor have a preference between these 2. Will try them side by side again, I wear plugs with my ear-pro. The ring does not bother me, altho I do notice it. |

WOW the A2 FH looked pretty good for original equipment. Shoot with them in low light in real life, and watch how much better the Vortex is. I wasn't a firm believer in high efficiency flash suppresses until I went to a night shoot featuring SBRs with military ammo. Previously I haid fired several thousand rounds of commercial ammo through a 10.5 in daylight or night but no 193. Now I use HE muzzle devices exclusively on anything short of a 20" barrel. For those who haven't seen it, an 11.5 with 193 can emit a huge fireball that degrades the night vision of everyone around you. Add a Blackout and it's gone. |

Yup, an A2FS on a M16A2/A4 works a lot better than it does on a MK18. |
