I started using aluminum traditions snap caps in my ARs. I had one in my S&W with no issues. I chambered one in my LMT and the bolt jammed. I ended up popping it loose and out of curiousity tired it again and of course I got the same result.

I open the action and when I pulled back on the charging handle I could see the bolt rotate and line up to come back, but the carrier would not budge.

My main question is....What caused the jam?

The LMT is new and I tore it down, cleaned and lubed it.

Did I do something or is it the snap cap?

Thanks

To clear, pull down on the charging handle while given the butt plate a good rap on the ground.
If you have a carbine stock, mark sure to shorten the stock all the way first.

As for the snap cap, not needed in a AR-15 rifle at all.  You can dry fire the rifle, and it will not cause problems.
