How does the socom 16 compare to your ARs? Pics Would be appreciated.

Thanks

Well my ARs are 223/5.56mm calibered, whereas the SOCOM 16 is 308/7.62.

My ARs have  20, 30 & 100 rnd. magazines, while the SOCOM 16 has 20 rnd mags.

My ARs weight less than the SOCOM 16.

My AR ammo weighs about half as much the SOCOMs fodder.

Not really sure what your point is, but BTT for others to comment on the differences between the 5.56 and the 7.62.......

Mike

ps - FWIW, my M1 Tanker Garand in 30-06 can do any the SOCOM 16 can do, IMO.

I like it, I like it a lot.

However it's not the same kind of animal as a 5.56mm AR15 type weapon.

Compare it to a 16' AR10 type 7.62x51mm carbine, and you've got a valid comparison going, otherwise a comparison would be meaningless.

I am just on the verge of buying a SOCOM 16. Great rifle. But apples to my ARs' oranges.

Lots of recoil, muzzle flash, and blast.

Agree with the above.

2 different calibers.

If I were to choose between the two it would be the AR hands down.  Simple to use and maintain and not to mention thanks for the Marine Corps for the training on the M16.

YMMV

Two different eggs.  on one hand, I can shoot my ar all day long for under 50 bucks.  I can shoot for about 30 minuites with my M1A for about 50 bucks...

I like them both but I'll have to agree with maxell27, AR hands down...so much stuff you can buy for it, so little for the Socom's, not to mention you can build two AR's for the price of one Socom.  that is if your spending the 1400 that I've seen them going for!

However, you should get it.....I promise you'll like it!

If you were letting me pick which one i want for free I would chose the SOCOM 16...

but then again I have 2 AR-15s, and my M1A is not a SOCOM...
