I havent used anything but FMJ in my AR but Iam switching over to a soft point ammo to use for a duty/ defense round. Has anyone had or known of problems with soft point ammo not feeding correctly?

Don't really have much input other than I've shot SP's and had no problems (as of yet) in 2 different barrels.

Dr. Roberts has reported that failures to feed can occur after firing 200 rounds of soft point ammunition in an AR-15.

im guessing that is 200 consecutive rounds?  200 rounds in the life of the rifle just doesnt seem right to me, then again, im no expert.  i just bought 200 rounds of SSA 63 gr soft points and need to test them out still.

I had problems with SP and HP, but I think that was specific to my rifle and was resolved by having Adco extend the feedramps.

I have shot a few local matches (~120 rounds each) using Barnaul 55gr sp without a problem.

Iam guessing this is from build up on the feed ramps?
