I'm thinking about picking up some higher quality optics for my M4gery.

It's a 16" barrel with a flat top.  I have a cheap reflex and BUIS on there now.

If I was to get a Trijicon ACOG TA31F will I need to get a mount or will it be able to go right on the rails?

What about quick release mounts?  What are my best bets?  Are there any good pivot mounts out there?  What is the best bang for the dollar mount?

What's everyone's experience with the front sight post in the sight?

Thanks,
J

You will need a mount, look for one of the package deals or pick up a used one in the EE.  Larue mounts are nice.

This is incorrect. The TA31F comes with its own mount. You can upgrade the mount to something with throw levers if you wish, and LaRue probably makes the best one. But the TA51 mount that comes standard on every TA31F ACOG is a good mount unto itself.

Thanks!  I just picked one up online for $759.20 which seems like a good deal because I was close to plunking down nearly $500 for an EOTech.

Just wondering about the front sight posts now and how that will come into play.

The LaRue mount looks very nice and I may pick one of those up.

the front sight will be a shadow in the lower portion of the optic. it may bug you, it might not.

i didn't much like it, so i use fold down front and rear sights.

Don't ya like to mount it backward too?

Re: replacement mount for the TA51 mount that comes with it, my favorite is the LT100.  It sits low and can be mounted almost immediately ahead of the BUIS.

I just picked up an LT-100 from LaRue.  The guy was extremely nice on the phone.

I dunno, after a while I just associated the backward mounted ACOG with Zack and his fire control pointed to Auto

The bad guys are farther away.  That's good, right?

That's bad, because I wasn't the originator. :/

57Strat did it first.
