So the 224 BoZ was quite the hot ticket some time ago, but reamers were deemed "proprietary" and well, I have yet to come across a handy 10mm magazine for the AR15.  But then we came across the 22 Reed Express.  It is the 7.62x25 Tok necked to 223, same concept, similar performance, but these will fit the Pps43 and PPSH 41 magazines (imagine the drums!).  Ron already offers CZ52 pistols in this caliber, but we wanted to try an AR.

We completed the first upper with a 10.5" barrel, pistol length gas system.  Yes, we are still trying to get a mag well adapter for the PPS43 mags working, but the round ... she is a little screamer.  I have not chronoed it (yet) but these little 45 and 55 gr loads are packing quite some punch.  In a super light weight upper, it would be quite the number for QCB I think ...

The little critter

Marty - Very Interesting!  A few questions if you've got time to answer them:

Are you using a plain .223/5.56 bolt, if so, did you have to open it up at all for the Tokarev case head?

Does the action cycle reliably with that little cartridge and the 10.5" barrel?

Very curious about this project, since I was thinking of something similar...basically a .357 SIG necked down to .17 caliber, use a 6.8 SPC bolt, but not sure of the mag...thinking a modified 6.8 or a mag & well adaptor from a 40 S&W upper?

But it looks like it'd be easier to neck this .22 RE down.  Love to hear what velocities you're getting with the lighter bullets...my goal is to get around 3,000 fps with a 25 grain .17 cal pill....seem possible?

Interesting!  I have seen pictures of a similar cartridge based on the 9x23mm Winchester case.

The nice thing about that one is it was short enough to fit into Gov't model magazines.

Does the action cycle reliably with that little cartridge and the 10.5" barrel?  She cycles like mad ... I was a little aggressive in gas port sizing but I also did that because I want to try 62 gr loads and 75 gr subsonic loads ...
