A friend of mine wants to buy himself an AR and I told him I'd help him find one online... proving to be muuch harder than i thought of course...  I usually go to aimsurplus or rainier... Any other sites I should check?  I dont want to send him to the EE bc I think he will get confused and discouraged.

Local is probably your best bet. Find a LGS that know when some are coming in if they are selling for normal prices.

This.  Find out when a shop gets their shipments in and camp out there before they open.  Wear running shoes, it's gotten silly.
