I was looking at a local gun thread and some guy mentions the fact that he has a transferable sp1 full auto for sale made in the mode 70's?! I didn't think they made full auto sp1 m16's. Any knowledge on that?

Colt didn't make any in FA, but there were some that were converted in the '80's and subsequentlyregistered. Ceiner did a bunch, even a few belt fed conversions.

Since the SP1 was the most numerous semi auto host gun before 1986, not just some, but a ton of conversion RRs were done using a Colt SP1 as the basis.  It's probably the single most numerous type of semi auto gun that was converted to full auto by gunsmiths and individuals before the cutoff in 1986.

Factors in its cost and reliability will be who or what shop did the conversion, and how and how well they did it, and some other factors.

Super NICE. One of only a few conversion carbine SP1s no doubt.
