I did some searching, to see if there were any recent posts about this optic, and I couldn't find any. I've been seeing a lot of good things about this sighting system, and it's about everything I would expect a sight to be. I especially like that I don't have to roll the magnifier to one side, and it's not 3x, it's a 4x. I understand this is a very spendy optic, which is why I was wondering if any of you have come across something like the Specter DR, only not for around 2k.

The Specter DR is in it's own league.  I have not seen anything that does what this can.  The closest alternative is a variable 1-4X scope which are popular and cheaper but you don't get that instant magnification/demagnification.  You still have to turn the magnification ring.  Check the EE for some good deals on used Specter DRs.  That's the only way to avoid the retail price.

What is "EE"? I'm not familiar with that site.
Thanks for the information! I still haven't found anything near what this sight can accomplish (for my personal needs). I'm looking forwards to being the future owner of an elcan.

The Equipment Exchange on this website.  There is an optics new/budget/used section.   See the pretty orange button on the top page.

I just got the SpecterDr for my AR.  I haven't had a chance to mount it on the rifle yet but so far I am very impressed with the scope.
The thing is built like a tank.

I will let you know once I get it mounted and get to shoot with it.

ARMS will replace your throw levers with the new MKII adjustable levers for $15. You can either send your scope in or order just the levers and replace them yourself.

See thread here.

For me, this removes the primary beef I had with the scope. I've owned several and all were either too loose or too tight on one or more of my uppers.

Thanks for the heads up!

Just ordered two sets for my SU-230s.
