| My ST-22 upper has a dedicated .22 bolt, and the buffer system is contained in that bolt, or so I'm told. My Spikes lower has a Spikes ST-2 buffer and recoil spring. Should I remove the ST-2 buffer/spring, or is it ok to fire the gun with the ST-2 buffer installed? Thanks |

There is no buffer per se for that setup, however, the bolt mass and the recoil spring moderate the effects of recoil.
Some .22LR Ciener type systems have some play in the rails and rob the firing pin of inertia. By leaving your buffer and action spring in place you ensure a better, more consistent lockup resulting in fewer FTF. You may have missed it, but you can find an alternative to the buffer here: www.taccom3g.com/ A few of the guys who do product testing have them in hand for long term evaluation, as it is a very inexpensive part you may want to try one yourself and lend your experience to our members. Some like this part to keep everything snugly in place:
