Anyone have any thoughts, suggestions on Spikes Tac m4 Upper receiver?

I have been searching around but seem to come up with mostly dedicated .22lr user reviews.

I am going for a 223/556 middy with precision in mind.
Any info/suggestions/reviews would be great.

(edited to add info)

I don't know about that one. The 16" middy my friend purchased is very accurate. I wouldn't worry about an upper from Spikes after seeing and shooting his.

The M-4 uses a Sabre Defence barrel… Very high quality… very accurate!
More than good to go!

Updated with info.

I am building the middy with precision in mind.

Already own WOA SS barrel 16" , Young BCG, DD Lite Rail.. along with small parts, lower, etc.

I am just interested in knowing a little more about Spikes Upper receiver.

I see that they have wonderful customer service and seem to have a good following.
Anyone have thoughts options below????

1)Buy Spikes Upper receiver .

2)Buy CMT/Stag upper receiver

3) Wait in DD upper receiver

4) Wait on Vltur MUR / Larue Stealth upper receiver

All the upper recievers that I have seen coming from spikes have been cerro forges, which a lot of different companies use (bushy, stag, cmmg etc.).

I think you'd probably be fine with one, but you have to realize that there is a lot of difference of price betwen a spikes stripped upper, and one made by Vltor (MUR) or Larue (stealth).  Your gonna get what you paid for with a spikes reciever, which is a no-nonsense or frills reciever that does the job.  If you buy one of the higher end uppers, like those noted, than their going to be better looking, and probably more in spec in terms of dimensions/thickness etc.

Ough… you just want the upper, not a complete upper…

All are equal except for the Vltor and the LaRue which are billet and have a unique look, but I see it as only cosmetic.

If it’s worth twice the price and a long wait to you to have a particular “look” than that’s up to you. Honestly I don’t see any difference in performance.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but I think vltor actually forges there uppers now.

Well, I ordered the Spikes upper receiver to complete my build.

If i ever get better than the rifle, i will consider upgrading to a stealth or vltor.

thanks for the input

I've built three uppers with the recievers that Spike's sells.  They have all been top quality with a great finish and no problems at all on the assemblies with three different brands of barrels.  I think you will be very happy with it, and if you're not, Spike's will make it right.

Thanks rhaney02.

One of the major reasons i went with Spikes was due to all of the positive feedback I have seen regarding their customer service (that and their from the great state of Florida).

Any pics of your builds?

I thought that they offered both… maybe I'm wrong… either way it’s the esthetic properties that I beleive make it desirable more that how it was machined.

The third one I no longer have.  Someone liked it so  much, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Nice rifle.

Thanks for posting. The finish on the receiver looks pretty damn clean.

Looking forward to getting mine in the mail.
