Weapon: CAR 16" chrome-lined 5.56mm 1:9 This is a new build from kit. Putting rounds on target has been great, no problems there. But it was chewing up the brass. Deep gouges and dents from ejection, making them unusable for reloading. Didn't matter if it was factory ammo or my reloads. Note: Santa Barbara SS109 was ok , but I've found these to be lighter loads than LC XM193 or IMI M855 So...I tried running some steel case ammo, both Golden Bear and Wolf. Out of about 100 rounds so far , I've already had 5 split necks or full length split cases. I've never had a split steel case or terminally dented brass out of my standard 20". Just an observation, wondering if anybody else has seen the same thing. |
