| Bushnell Spacemaster 15-45x scope. Comments please, on quality and reliability and usefulness between 100 and 300 yds on seeing .223 holes in the paper.TIA |
| With a very good scope, you'll be able to see hits in the black at 100 yds, but likely not at longer ranges unless you use Shoot-N-C centers or a white backer. It's fairly easy to spot hits on white paper to 300 yds and beyond. Kowa scopes are preferred by most NRA Highpower shooters as they offer a good image at a reasonable price, but the kicker is their long eye relief eyepieces - they allow you to see the full field of view while wearing shooting glasses. The common choice is the Kowa TSN-661 with 25X LER eyepiece. It's smaller, lighter, and less expensive than the TSN-821M but has the same high image quality. Most shooters prefer the 45 degree eyepiece to make the scope accessible without breaking position. The Kowa weatherproofing is superb, and a necessity since Highpower matches continue in the rain. I'd suggest you check prices from JarheadTop (http://www.jarheadtop.com/) - his prices include a cover and shipping for the basic cost elsewhere. |
