I was cleaning my AR with an Otis cleaning kit the other day and was using those round patches that come with it, and noticed that when I was pulling the patches through the barrel (lubed and un-lubed w/ CLP) it was "squeaking" while I pulled it through. Is this normal? Am I damaging my rifle by continuing to clean it like this? It seems to get rid of a lot of the carbon in the barrel, though. Thanks, JZ |
| You know mine does the exact samething when I clean it, dry or wet patch. There just isn't any room in there. I can't see cloth hurting the rifle. I do have a brass rod with a plastic end piece so if there is to much pressure I know the plastic would just flex. |
What size patches do you use? -JZ |

It's hard to hurt a chrome lined moly barrel. I read once you can brush the living life out of your barrel over a long period of time. I wet patch, brush once, wet patch again, dry patch until light gray, very light oil patch through barrel, done. |
