Hey all this is my first post. I'm looking at 300 blackout barrels and is it better to go with a Stainless from somewhere like Noveske or go with a Nitrided barrel from AAC?
Thanks, |

The jury is still out in my opinion, and it may be a Hung Jury with no decision. The feeling is that since the cartridge is mild, uses less powder than the .223, has a bigger bore than .223, and doesn't shoot the bullets very fast, any barrel in 300 BLK is going to last a long, long time. As far as accuracy goes, I've not read or heard any difference between them, other than individual barrels having their own preferences for loads, just like any other rifle.
I really really really like the cartridge and sorta collect different barrels. I currently have Delta Company plain chrome moly, AAC nitrided chrome moly, and Daniel Defense cold hammer forged nitrided CMV. I will have a PSA cold hammer forged chrome lined in a couple of weeks and a Kies stainless later this summer. I gage the throat when new and periodically as they are fired. So far, none are showing more wear than the others. I don't shoot more than 10 shots without letting them cool. So, buy what you would like, and it will perform well. |
