Hello, all. How are you? I am new to the AR-15 and in the market for my first. I am interested in the Rock River mid-length A4. I am looking for an "all purpose" rifle. Target, coyote (100-200 yards), home defense. Quality and reliability are key for me. I hate poor workmanship and won't waste my money. I know everyone has a favorite brand and I expect some diversity in asking my question but, is Rock River a quality company who make a quality AR-15?
Thank you for helping me out. Take care. Stephen |

I wouldn't mind a Colt. Is the quality better than a Rock River? If so, how? My range would be round $1000 for said rifle. I would like a carbine or mid-length with a flat top for scope placement. and the Colt 6920 looks perfect with the removable carry handle.
I don't mind spending more if the quality is better. Again, thank you for all your advice and help. |

RRA is a good quality rifle. I would go with a Colt 6920, sort of the "gold standard". The prices on them have never been lower and not that much more than an RRA. Just my two cents worth. i'm with jcrowl. rra is good to go. colt is better to go....... er ......... something. |
| Well congrats on your wise decision to step up to a high performance rifle! I have owned RRA, Stag and DoubleStar. In all honesty I would point you to Stag and DoubleStar in that order. I have a Bushmaster coming in this week (my first) so I don't know what to say about them yet. Colts? well ya if ya got the coin! Good luck and good shooting!! |

Can't complain about my RRA, but I'd say go with whatever you have the budget for. Even though it'll be your first, I'm sure it won't be your last. You can always trade up with cash, sell it straight up, keep it and buy another, etc. I don't think you'll be disappointed by the quality of RRA, or many of the others for that matter. Good luck, whatever you decide. It's an addictive and expensive "hobby" if you want to call it that. |
