I've just ordered a RRA lower and LPK. I'm really new to the AR world so I've been reading like crazy and the terminology has me visiting the library often, so If it sounds like I have no clue as to what I'm saying, well, it's because I don't have a clue. Now for the questions.
I have a Bushmaster now and I don't really want to build the exact same thing. What is the difference between the M4 and my XM-15? Is it the barrel length? What kind of upper would you suggest reasonably priced of course? Is assembly of the upper pretty straight forward and cheaper to do it yourself? Another question off topic a bit. When the ban was in place were the lowers the only thing you couldn't buy? Thanks |

XM15 is bushmaster's own designation for their models. M4 is now more used as a general description for a 16" carbine with collapsible stock, flat top, etc. Usually used pretty loosely.
The ban didn't affect purchasing lowers, only what you could do with them. Putting an upper together, part for part, isn't difficult. Get a reputable BCG and barrel. Don't worry about 'headspacing' or anything. Don't buy a barrel without a barrel extension already installed. |

Thank you much Primos! I'm still deciding on an upper. I bought CAA (I guess you call it furniture?), stock, grip, etc.... I work in a world with plenty of acronyms but good god, you guys create and acronym for a whole fvckin sentance. Anyways.... to you experienced people out there, help a newbie out. I've been leaning towards a RRA CAR A4 upper but have also been looking at STAG and a few others. I am no longer interested at this point in time to build the upper so what would one recommend on a budget of about 500 to 700 hundred bones?

Small question here. I'm assembling my lower and I'm having a difficult time installing the trigger pin. It looks like the disconnecter spring is flared on one end causing the disconnecter not to depress fully thus causing the holes not to line up to get my pin through. I'm obviously missing something here. Anyone care to help out?
