There are currently several different places that have the "how-to" guide, read it over and it should answer all of your questions.  If it doesn't , it is probably easiest to email me ([email protected]).  For some odd reason, I end up with a large volume of weapon related email, which is fine, but it makes it easier for me if people read the guide first so we are all on the same sheet of music.

If your interests are in 1911 refinishing, here is one for those as well.

Eventually I'll complete my write ups for FAL, AKs, shotguns and Glocks, but I never seem to have enough time to get them done.

I was just thinking.. have you applied this technique to magazines? I was just doing some the other night with my can of Permaslik and was thinking about this. Thoughts?

Lancelot,

Yes, but it isn't going to hold as well on a slick aluminum mag body as it will on the parkerized British SA80 magazines.  If you had a chance to rough up the mag bodies with a light abrasive blasting, it would work much better.  While there are plenty of different colors to choose from, I usually use black, however, I think the OD Green gives a nice overall look to the weapon.

I'll get some more mag pics up in a little bit for you, and explain my mag refinishing/ enhancement program.

Just checked, they are all good.
Just inserted your 1911 refinishing guide into a MS Word doc, excellent guide, thanks for taking the time to write it up/post it!

I'm too lazy to upload the pics to another site right now, but since there is already a thread on them on another board, check out my magazine refinishing/enhancement/rebuilding over here.

Similar process of degrease, spray, oven cure.

I strip everything when I do mine.

You can use the SOCOM black on the steel and the Grey-Black on the Aluminum and get a real bitchin' two tone effect.

The lighting isn't the greatest for showing the two different colors, but kind of like this?

I can make it out but your lighting is a little too subdued to really show it off.

Stickman...

Not only do you take awesome pics, but you have the most excellent looking firearms!

HeavyMetal,

Between the lighting, and glare, it hard to see the difference.  Not a big deal, when I took the picture, this met with what I was looking for in the finished product.

Ripcode-  As pointed out above, the picture certainly has flaws, but I thankyou just the same.  This particular weapon has a fantastic feel to it.
