I read the sticky and didn't see this unless I missed it.
What is the difference between the Mil. Spec. M4 Buffer Tube and Commercial Buffer Tube other than the diameter? ( any difference in function ect.) Will all collapsible buffer tubes fit with all collapsible stocks? |
| A true mil-spec receiver extensions have four stop positions, but there are many aftermarket mil-spec tubes that have five or six stop positions. They are forged 7075 aluminum & have a flat aft end. Only mil-spec stock bodies will fit mil-spec tubes. Commercial receiver extensions are extruded 6061 aluminum & some have slanted aft ends (not all). Commercial stock bodies will ift both tubes, however, the commercial stocks will obviosuly be loose on a mil-spec tube. Commercial tubes can vary in quality & demensional specs. Mil-spec tubes are more consistant across the board with regard to demensions. Both will fit any in spec AR lower. Function wise they are the same. |
