I've got a RRA lower and a RRA carbine buttstock, both bought seperately for my first build. I've been trying to screw the stock into the receiver, with not much luck. The two mate for a little bit, then any progress stops after maybe a thread or two then stops way short of holding in the buffer retainer. I can force the stock as little more, but it doesn't go far. The buttstock only makes maybe one rotation then stops. Any further attempts scare me as I don't want to hose up the stock (bad) or bugger the threads in the receiver (really bad) ![]() I've tried some gun grease on both sets of threads to see if that helps makes things smoother, but it doesn't. Should attaching the buttstock to the receiver be that difficult? Do I have some parts out of spec? Many thanks in advance for any help any one can give me. |
First, welcome aboard! ![]() To answer your question, yes, something isn't quite right. The buffer tube should screw into the receiver with no resistance until you run up against the buffer retainer pin. If lubing the threads didn't help then check the threads for goobers on both the tube and the receiver. If you still can't find anything obviously wrong then call up whomever you ordered the parts from or RRA and see if they can do anything for you. BTW, I'm sure RRA will take good care of you if you have to take it that far. |
