I have a Colt MT6400c with the fake collapsible stock.  I would like to replace the stock with a fixed one.  Can anyone tell me how to get the thing off the receiver extension or do I need to replace the extension too?

There is a threaded ring around the buffer tube, just behind the receiver. You need to loosen that ring, then the buffer tube will unscrew from the receiver. You may need a special spanner-type wrench to loosen/tighten the ring, but some people use a punch/hammer, which I dont recommend.

BE CAREFUL when removing the stock. In front of the ring there is a small plate (with indent).

This plate serves two purposes. It is a "washer" for the buffer tube ring and [red]IT KEEPS A SMALL PLUNGER SPRING IN PLACE[/red]...The spring keeps tension on on a little brass slug that keeps tension on your rear take-down pin. If you do not watch out for it, it will shot right past you and you will lose it upon taking the stock off.

Umm..what is the difference between a fake collapsible stock and a pinned stock? LOL

Thanks.  Just to clarify, I have to replace the receiver extension, right?

You mean the buffer tube? You should be getting a new one with the new stock, so yes.
