re: ~ Stock, Spring & Buffer Question/s

Okay . . .Here's the story.    Just picked up a STAG lower receiver that came equipped with a DPMS collapsing / collapsible, whatever it's called, 6-position stock. The plan is to put the MID-LENGTH  upper upon this STAG lower receiver.   First off, I know nothing about these collapsing stocks and last handled a CAR shorty M16 with one of these type things on it back around 1969.  Suppose that I've always been a rigid stock kinda guy.

Managed to pull out the buffer with spring and noticed that both of them are much shorter than the ones found inside of an A1 / A2 rifle stock.   So . . . am I to gather that the buffer and spring inside the collapsing stock is for a CARBINE?

Question is . . . which buffer and spring set needs to be used with a MID-LENGTH gas system?    Does the MID-LENGTH  required a rifle size buffer and spring?

As it is . . . I was thinking about using an A1 stock on the mid-length rifle anyway,  The collapsing stocks somehow seem toy-like and not serious,  Suppose it's a matter of just getting used to the thing

The upper has nothing to do with buffer and spring. It depends on the receiver extension you are running. You currently have the correct setup. If you change to an A1 stock you will need to change to rifle buffer and sporting.

Interesting!     So the CARBINE spring and buffer inside the collapsing stock is okay with a MID-LENGTH upper?  That's cool!    It was my thought that the gas system length affected the spring in relationship to the tension.   That apparently is incorrect.

Thanks for the info . . .
