When installing the stock how can you make sure that the bottom of the stock is pointing to the bottom as you screw the stock on. Will the stock bottom out or will the castle nut tighten it up?

Knowing me my stock will be pointing at 45 degrees.

Go to the pinned thread titled "Assemble your......"  read the part about the CAR stock installation, gives some good pics and explanation.

There is nothing physically on the stock to "exactly" line up the stock perpendicular to the lower, its a judgement thing, but most people can tell when some thing is square, or not square.  You only have part of a turn to keep the buffer retainer pin in place as it is, it will get you real close.  Its a hard thing to screw up, you'll do fine.

If it is off it will likely be obvious to you, loosen the castle nut and do it again.  If you find it is shifting X ammount when you tighten it, leave it that ammount the other direction and tighten the nut, voila it will end up straight.

The receiver end plate has a lug that engages the channel milled in the bottom of the receiver extension. This, and the lug that fit’s into the recess in the rear of the lower receiver, keep the stock fairly ligned up with the lower receiver. There will still be some minute play that will need to be “eyeballed”.
