So I'm up to needing to pick a stock for my 1st build. I've read the sticky and several other threads and think I have an idea but wanted to see if you guys have any other suggestions. Purpose: 16" barreled gun with an eotech meant for mostly plinking, a little urban unrest, and a small amount of animated undead deanimation. Relevant problems: I'm 6'3" so I tend to need larger things than most others. I'd like a stock thats sturdy, preferably with some storage capability, and nice cheek weld. Ideally it'd also collapse well to help carry it in a discreet bag but I think thats asking for too much. To me it looks like the best choice is probably the magpul M93B. Everyone says its very sturdy and has a pretty decent cheek weld. I've seen no attachments to allow something like battery storage however. The other option would be the vltor stock. It looks like I trade in a bit of sturdiness for storage and a better cheek weld. Think thats a pretty fair assessment? Which would you pick for my needs? Any others I should be looking at? I'm not 100% convinced I even need collapsable. Thanks! |

Collapsable stocks are nice but are they really needed if you are not planning on shooting with body armor? If you are set on a collapsable then maybe you should look at the LMT SOPMOD stock, they are very sturdy and have the storage as well as a very nice cheak weld and if your anything like me on those days when you forget to shave you wont get the stubble stuck in the stock. |
| No armor here, the main thing about collapsible I thought would be nice would be to shorten it up a little for transportation but 4" may not be enough of an issue to worry about....The only other thing I see is that an adjustable should be able to come out to a longer than alot of the spiffy fixed ones like the skeleton stock which as tall as I am I might need. |

+1 Vltor Modstock & LMT SOPMOD The SOPMOD is a little longer than the Vltor, so if you want a longer stock take a close look at SOPMOD. Magpul also have some pre-production CTR model and will soon be releasing their UBR model which are lighter and very solid like their older M93B model. IMPROVED MAGPUL CTR REVIEW AND PICS........... thread link Magpul UBR Stock thread link I have two Vltor, an ACE M4 SOCOM and a M16A2 solid stock, my favorite so far are my Vltors. |
