I tested the trigger pull on 4 stock (standard trigger) lowers that I have with the following results: Colt SP1 6.5lb Stag 6.5lb Bushmaster 7.5 lb RRA 8.75 lb Is this consistent with others experience -- e.g. do RRA lowers have this stiff a trigger pull and do Bushmasters usually have a somewhat heavier pull than Colts and Stag? Thanks Dave Brown |
No -- it was the stock trigger. With that high of a pull (almost 9 lb) RRA should have an option of purchasing a come-along with each lower. I checked them since I was going to replace the worst with a JP Kit. The RRA will soon have a better trigger. Will let you know how that turns out. Will probably work my way through the lowers.
Thanks for your input. Dave Brown |

Trigger pull weight will depend entirely on the quality of whichever subcontractors Triggers, hammers & springs they were using that day. My best non match aftermarket trigger is a bushmaster/QPI. My worst is a DPMS. I'll take an 8# DPMS trigger over a 3.5# aftermarket "match" trigger that doubles like my CMC did anyday. |

3 utility AR's with trigger components of unknown heritage but with the 15 minute trigger job all are between 6# & 6.5#. No creep, just break and go. Nice crisp triggers. About right for general shooting. 1 Colt HBAR Match Target with the 15 minute trigger job and a little additional POLISHING, 4.5#. Very smooth, no creep - perfect for CMP bullseye matches. 1 varmit setup using the RRA 2 stage, but with lightened mainspring, 4# with no creep. I have bolt guns with triggers in the 2# - 3# range, but I would not want an AR much below 4#. The trick to a good trigger is the right springs and POLISH!!!!
