I've finally got all the parts & pieces to build up my retro upper but ran into what I think is a small snag....what part does the snap ring go onto? After countless searches here I couldnt find an "How to" on the straight delta rings.....if they differ...

When ordering my parts I couldnt find an A1 style schematic so I did the best I could at ordering parts using the A2 schematics. Had a buddy send me pics of his colt after I couldnt figure mine out.

What I have:

What I think I need:

Thanks for any help!

What you are pointing to is the barrel nut, see ring groove in pic below.

You have all the Delta ring parts needed as shown in this BIY tacked assembly thread and the scavenged pic below:

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782 - Build it Yourself tacked thread which everyone should be using when building uppers or installing FF forends.....

Pic from this thread showing all Delta ring parts - A2 only minorly different but installs in same manner.

eta - you do have a barrel nut, correct? (it's that dimple tipped part above on which your Armorer's wrench fits over) A pretty necessary part for affixing the barrel to the upper receiver....

LOL...Yeah I do have the BBL nut...I guess after I posted and got to work I realized my mistake....originally looking at the snap ring, I thought it was an internal snap ring....So I was looking for an internal groove the whole time...After a coffee and some looking at it it all made sense...looked at a pic of my BBL assy and sure enough there was the groove...

Yes, I feel like an idiot....

You won't need that rear triangle cup unless you are doing a 607.  A standard length rifle will not use that piece
