Took my new SEBR out last weekend and had a ball (thanks again Ed)... But one time I had a bit of a problem with it. I figured it was the mag (a brand new GI with MagPul follower The bolt was about 80% open when it locked back, and not seeing this when I went to hit the bolt release, it would partly strip the top round and have a nice BOB failure. How can I fix it so the bolt will always lock FULLY back? TIA jim |

The bolt catch should be catching the bolt on its front face, and not the carrier. With rifle in hand, pull all the way back on the charging handle, and confirm that the bolt face does retract past the catch, and you can lock the bolt back using the catch. Now if you can lock the bolt back correctly, next is to fire a singe loaded round in a mag, and confirm that the bolt locks back on the empty mag (read catch on the bolt face during a correct cycle). If everything good so far, then it may just be a matter of the mag needing to break in, either through live fire or by hand. |
Thanks Dano... I've confirmed the first part, just need to do that with the second part. I note that this happened with only one magazine- surprising, but I had 7 others with me and they were all fine. Could just be the mag. Thanks again. |
