I've always been a dedicated Surefire guy but a few years ago I got one of the Streamlight Micros and was very impressed. It's a little <$20 single AAA light and is perfect as a back up or small non tactical light.
I liked the Micro so much I decided to pick up a PT-1L to keep in one of my camping bags and .....IT SUCKS! I like the size, it's bright enough, priced right at about $40, but the beam is terrible. It's dark spots and rings like a damn $5 flashlight. Hell, even the cheapo Rayovac LED lights I picked up on clearance at Walmart for storm handouts have nice smooth beams. How can they get it so right with the Micro and screw up their "tactical" lights so bad? Are they all like this or did I get a lemon? |
