I just finished a week long Patrol Rifle course at my agency and was able to see multiple lights put up against each other.  The results inspired me to purchase the Streamlight/Thunder Ranch Tactical Urban Rifle Illumination kit with the Streamlight shockproof TL3.  We have a night qualification course that ranges from 5 to 100 yards in total darkness - minus natural lighting.  People may think that I'm full of it but the TL3 performed MUCH better than any other light that was used in the course, including the Surefire M500 series.  The users stated that they had the lower lumen bulbs in, but the TL3 was still noticeably brighter.  For 120 bucks for an entire kit that kit install on standard forends, you can't beat it.  I'll be sure to post pics when I get mine in the mail.

You might want to check out my post about turning the tl-3 into th epocket rocket. It almost doubles the output at a slight reduction in runtime. I have one on my ar and I have found nothing comes close to it.

I'd put some pics of it in use but they are large and I can't figure out how to shrink them since I can't use html on this damn board...if somebody can tell me how to do it, I'll post some in use pics of the light.
