| What streamlight flashlight makes a good ar weapon light? |
|
TLR-1 (if you don't need more lumens, but want run time)
TLR-2 (if you want a laser with your flashlight) TLR-3 (If you want a little cheaper version of the TLR-1, with a plastic housing) TLR-1s (if you want a strobe capability) TLR-1HP (if you want a large throw, more light) TLR-1 HL (just like the TLR-1 but with more lumens and shorter run time) |

The new TLR-1S is 300 lumen instead of 200 like the older TLR-1. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/1044003_10100938970477558_1301216903_n.jpg I'm running a TLR-1 in front of an EOTech and was surprised how little the light impacted the sight picture. Paladin |

maybe my question was it unclear I'll go ahead and rephrase it..... Does streamlight make a flashlight similar to the protac 2L thatcan be put in a flashlight mount to attach to the rail? Depends on what style mount you choose as to what body diameter it will fit.. What are you thinking as far as placement? Protac 2L has a 0.77" body diameter. |

What streamlight flashlight makes a good ar weapon light? Love my Streamlight TLR-1! I just picked mine up from this place for $129 a week ago. Surefire is nice as well but seem to run higher in price. Have fun! |

Has anyone compared the TLR-1 vs. the TLR-1 HL side by side? Looks like they are rated as the same candle power (at the brightest point in the beam), but the TLR-1 is 300 lumens (total light) and the HL version is 630 lumens. Sounds like the HL has more of a flood lamp type light vs. more of a focused beam with the 1. Is that true? |

| Circumstances led me to using a Polytac LED and for about $40 I can't say enough about the light. It's a pretty tough little light and is good for at least 50 yards. It gets mostly positive reviews, though I have read at least one where the rather unimpressive spring in the tail cap collapsed. The reviewer was able to pull it back out and make it work again though. Some users also have had it flash during recoil, which wouldn't shock me since it uses only one spring but I have not experienced this. While I'm happy with my light, if I were starting from scratch and especially if I already had a rail, I would go for one of the TLR lights. By the time you get the Polytac, a decent mount and ring you're about at the cost of the TLR-1, which is a purpose built light. |
| I set up a Polytac HD in a 1" scope ring for temporary use, but it works well enough that I'm just going to stick with it. The main part of the light body is smaller than the 1" ring so you will have to wrap the body with some tape or a rubber, but the back of the light is wide enough to lock down tight. I can clearly see around 40yds outside with this light. The only drawback to this setup is that you won't be able to mount the light at the 1 or 11 o clock position, it will be at either 3,6, or 9 o clock position. |
