I am wanting to start my first build and i am looking for a good stripped lower to get.  I have seen a DPMS for about $110, a RRA for about $150 and a Les Baer Customs for $175 and I was wondering, is there really any difference between them? Is it worth paying the extra $ to get a RRA or Les Baer?

Personally, I don't think they're worth paying the extra $$.  Of course, there are plenty of guys on this site who will disagree with me on this one.

Check this Lower info link out

I've used DPMS, RRA, Stag, ASA etc...for builds and never had issues with any of them.  Read around this site and you'll find guys that have built on expensive lowers and very inexpensive lowers with no issue on either.

I've put together a few Noveskie, RRA, and DPMS lowers. Noveskie and RRA both had a nicer finish but they all worked fine. Now Lower parts kits are a different story. Stag and RRA are the best IMO. I've used 3 DPMS kits that others bought and two had problems. 1 with the trigger gaurd hole not drilled correctly and one with the grip.

I have built on  Stag , DPMS , Olympic Arms, and Superior Arms stripped lowers before.
And i prefere Superior Arms over the ones that i have listed for a lot of reasons. But the price differants is the biggest part of my choices.
Superior Arms lowers are lower in price for the most part and the quality is just as good
as the others.

Are Double star lowers any good?  I have seen some stripped ones for $99 dollars and was thinking about picking some up.

I was thinking of getting a few from Anvil Arms.

The anvil logo looks pretty good. and they really stick to the Milspec specs according to the description. The sale price is awesome too.

I have know idea on the quality, but they look great in the pic and it has a decent warranty (provided they stick around long enough!)

Since Anvil Arms is has got such a smoking price, right now, I am buying 3 of them this week to stockpile them while I can.

Ok, well maybe 3 in not exactly a stockpile, but I do plan to get more and soon!

+1 for Anvil Arms.   I'll be buying at least two lowers from them soon.

Their work is simply excellent.

I just completed my Essential Arms lower. I completed the build-out using RRA LPK, Bravo Company 6-position CAR stock, ERGO grip and enhanced trigger guard. It looks as good as my Bushmaster.

Shoot man, your gonna wanna change things soon on a first build ( upgraded grip, sights, buttstock and forearm, so why go for a high dollar lower for the 1st build? As you find out more of what works for you, go for a top shelf model with the logo you like. Get the CMMG www.aimsurplus.com/acatalog/AR_CMMG_MOD4SA_AR15_.223_5.56x45_Lower_Receiver.html , Stag, or Double Star. any of those should run you between $100.00 and $125.00.
