This is the only section of the thread that appears to be stripped. Its only about 2-3mm. All other threads are okay. Was this from over tightening I assume? If so, that doesn't make sense since more threads should be stripped right?
Am I okay to use this buffer tube or should I get a new one? The castle nut is on pretty tight so Im thinking it would be fine? I appreciate the responses. Thanks http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/1975/img5420n.th.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
| It just looks like typical aluminum on steel galling. There might have been a small piece of grit or something in there to cause it. I think it would be fine but you may have trouble if you ever take it back apart. I don't know if it's customary but I allways lube threads when assembling anything aluminum. |

Quoted: Okay cool. Yeah I didn't lube it or anything prior... I was afraid to loosen the nut to examine it more because maybe it wouldnt go back on. But I'll leave it be Buffer tube doesn't cost much. I doubt there galling on the receiver threads but it's best to check. |
