Okay guys, how bad have I screwed up?
I finished a lower build today, minus the bolt catch. My LPK was missing the roll bin for the bolt catch, so I just went ahead and put the rest together. Got it all done and snapped an upper on for function check. Pull the charging handle back and.....uh oh.....the bolt stayed locked back. I figured with the bolt catch missing, it would NOT CATCH the bolt and just run forward. Somebody in another thread seemed to back this up, so I didn't give it any more thought. Now, I've got the bolt locked to the rear with no way to release it. Any suggestions? Thanks y'all! |

Stupid question but without the bolt catch, what is holding it back. Something doesn't make sense. If your bolt is back and is stuck without a bolt catch, something is wrong, be very careful separating your lower from your upper. Your bolt is under a lot of tension and will fly forward. or it may not and be in the buffer tube? I can't picture that without looking at my rifle right now. |

Are the buffer and spring in the rifle? I know I've charged it without those more than once. Just tap the muzzle on the ground if that's the case. very good question. I just assembled my rifle today and forgot to slide the buffer and spring in before assembling it. I had the buffer and spring laying in the cabinet and it totally slipped my mind. I ended up unscrewing my buffer tube in order to free up the bolt and get it back into the upper reciever. |
