There are two threaded holes in the ends of the top rail and one non-threaded hole in the front end of the bottom rail.  What are they for?

And now the stupid part: Where should I have looked to find this out without bothering you folks?

Top and bottom?  I can see the sling swivel approach for the bottom (and a lot of bipod packages now make a lot more sense), but why threaded holes on the top?  And what's the thread?

I have no idea why they would tap the top rail. Are we talking YHM rails?

As far as thread pitch goes, I’m not quite sure. I am pretty sure though that the thread pitch is standard across the board.

No, they're not YHM.  I bought some "inexpensive" rails to see how I liked them and finally noticed the holes.

Is the sling swivel stud that works with rails a standard part?  Where does one find them?

Inexpensive? Then your guess is as good as mine.

If the rails came from a well known manufacturer, and I was looking for a sling stud, I’d start with their web site.

Yeah, I sort of figured that...  I'll take a look.  So far though I'm getting to like these things and now I'm starting to look at "good brands" to see what they'll set me back.

Thanks!
