I finally got to a range with my newest rifle. As posted before it is a RRA lower with a Del-ton upper (flat ttop, YHM four rail, flip up front and rear BUIS), ARFX-E stock. Aimpoint CompM on a ARMS cantilevered QR mount with a Surefire under the barrel and a TangoDown foregrip. So the night before T-day I took my son and his cousins (seven boys, two girls) and assorted parents (five in total) to a local range. We had 2,000 rounds of .22 for the kids along with a Ruger 22/45, two 10/22s, a CZ youth model and some old unknown .22 bolt action (nice rifle, actually). A couple pistols and the AR were there for the older cousins and adults. And my newest AR stole the show. Aunts and Uncles alike couldn't keep their hands off it. It was near flawless, too. A couple failures to extect near the end when it was good and filthy, a bore snake and some Slip 2000 took care of that. I figure it ate around 500-600 rounds with just two FTEs. Needless to say I was pretty happy about that. And the kids had fun, too. Moral of the story? Build a new AR and take your .22 and some kids to the range to break it in and introduce the next generation to shooting. Laters |
