OK, I ordered an upper half to be built. I paid, what I consider a fair amount. I specified barrel 'S', rail 'T', upper receiver 'S', bcg 'S', and muzzle break 'G'. Before the build commenced I was informed that muzzle break 'G' was no longer available and would be substituted with muzzle break 'M'. No problem. Received the package yesterday and at first blush was very pleased...the profile, balance, and weight are what I envisioned. The next morning, as I'm sure some of you can relate too, I started looking at the details. The barrel and rail were as specified. The upper receiver is not an 'S' but instead an 'AR'. The Micor muzzle break is for a barrel with a 1/7 twist...my barrel is a 1/8 twist. I can't tell who made the BCG and charging handle but given the other unapproved substations who knows. I am a bit pissed and want to hear how others might handle this.

Right now I feel like calling amex and putting a hold on the charge, calling the vendor and have him build a new one to spec, use this one and then return it when I get the correct build.

Suggestions?

Thanks...

I wanted to have a friend who does the Raleigh Dixie Gun and Knife show build me an SPR upper a while back and I was about to pay in cash for it to be built but when he specified that it was going to be outsourced to someone I have never met before I decided not to go forward with it. I would remain firm about your specs on the parts since it is on your dime. If said builder gives you any lip or bs then dispute the charge with AmEx.

Micor cuts the ports to match the barrel twist.  I can't make my brain figure out how it makes a difference.

send it back and get what you paid for.

or, send it back and get your money refunded.  Buy parts you want and build it yourself.  Or if you're near Charlotte, buy parts you want, IM Covertness and he'll invite you to his shop and show you how to put it together with his tools yourself.

Interesting, didn't know that.

Common sense dictates that it be returned to the source for, a) exactly what you ordered, or b) a refund.

All good advice. I will give it a few days then contact the vendor.

Thanks...
