I put together a lower a while ago, and used a buffer tube/buttstock kit I ordered from Sportsmans Guide for @$30.  Never fired any rounds with it.  Rifle is basically a secondary AR to have for occasional plinking or hunting.  Should I be concerned about it and swap it out with something better? Or are buffer tubes not all that important in the long run for a rifle that will see minimal use?

Meh. Go with an Anderson buffer tube. It's 7075.

The cheapo ones are usually 6061. In the past, I have stripped them just putting on the castle nut.

7075 milspec ftw.

Hunting you say?  Lets say you fall on it and your cheapo one gets bent.  The gun is out of commission.  Although unlikely, I would prefer the stronger aluminum (7075)

Just make sure the castle nut/end plate are staked.

I've used a cheapo kit. I had to replace the buffer spring to get the gun to function right. If you have function problems, keep that in mind.

I'm using a $14 from eBay.  So far I really like it.  Don't know about the Sportsmans Guide stuff.  No experience with it.

I stick with a 7075 tube, but other than that, I don't really worry. I can usually find a 7075 tube on ebay for $15 or so.

I purchased one of mine from Delta Tactical for like 20 bucks and I have had no problems with it despite what others told me, it works just fine, We are not going into combat with these guns.

The cheapo tube/kits are OK. They will work. I have tried out 5 or 6 name brands. I think the best value kit is the Anderson kit. I have had people bring in the $19.99 Amazon kits for me to install and you can tell a difference. I had one where the end plate would not recess into the receiver. The castle nuts usually look junky, too.

You probably aren't going to break any of them, but there is no need to skimp out just to save 10-20 bucks, only to feel like you need to replace it later.

Where was it made? China?

I believe so, I got it a while ago, but I think it came in a plain box or bag, can't remember.  Was buttstock, tube, buffer spring and castle nut.  The castle nut looks cheap compared to the one on my rock river.  I also had to file the top of the end plate piece to allow the charging handle to clear.  I may replace it and save it for a dedicated 22lr lower at some point.
