M900a has a throw lever mount. M900 has screws. They are both essentially the same, but the mounting system is different. I went with the throw lever because I liked the look better, and it is more reliable that screws in my opinion. I ordered directly through Surefire LE/Military sales division about 4 years ago. I was debating throw lever vs screw mount. The throw lever was manufactured by ARMS and the double thumb screw mount was made in house by Surefire. The Surefire sales rep specifically told me that Surefire observed problems/customer returns with the ARMS throw lever equipped lights. The sales rep advised that the ARMS throw levers were wearing out on lights that were taken on and off a lot for cleaning/storage/ect. The sales rep recommended that I purchase the cheaper double thumb screw model & if I didn't like it I then go with a quick release ARMS mount for the same price as the difference in the pricing they were offering or I could spend a touch more for a mount by someone other than ARMS. I was a bit shocked by that response. I went with the double thumb screw mount and had to use a touch of blue locktite on them to keep them from backing out. A year or so ago, I switched to a quick release by someone other than ARMS and never looked back. I use my rifle everyday I work, it rides in a lightly padded bag every where it goes, I needed a mount that could take a good beating. ARMS may have sorted the issues Surefire advised me of by now so give Surefire a call. Wes |
